As a freshman at MWC (it will always be Mary Washington College to me) in 1998 I was searching for a way to connect and talked with a FVRS member at a MWC voluneer fair. Having had no prior exposure to EMS or medicine, the next 4 years as a volunteer was not only memorable and fun but literally changed my life. Because of my training, experience and exposure to EMS I went on to attend medical school and become an Emergency Medicine physician. I have been in practice for 17 great years and still have a pashion for my chosen profession. My love of EMS has never waned and I serve as the Medical Director for my local EMS/fire agency Temple Terrace Fire Department. I am also the Chief Medical Officer for my hospital where I serve as a physician leader for a large health care organization in Tampa, Florida.
Not only was my time at FVRS a professional game changer, but I also met my husband Jason who was a fellow volunteer. We have been married for 23 years and have 2 great kids. I feel so fortunate to have connected with a FVRS member at the MWC volunteer fair and to have started my journey as a physician as I completed my degree at MWC and learned real life skills I still use every day. You never know where you will find the spark that lights your fire and where life will take you! FVRS is a great orgranization with great people who do amazing work for the community and I thank you all!

Thank you for taking such good care of my father who has needed your services many times these past few weeks. "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!" has been the issue, and THANK YOU for assisting him and my mother. We are actively trying to find a more permanent solution but, in the meantime, thank you for being there when help is needed. We - his family - are very grateful.
